October 28, 2017, 12-8p, Gather Together will host the Extant Arts Festival in Station North Arts District at the YNOT Lot at the corner of North Avenue and Charles St.
Gather Together, in partnership with MECU, the Contemporary Museum and the Grit Fund, presents the The Extant Arts Festival: Performances and art by, for, about and with survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault.
Extant Arts is a day long survivor-centered and survivor-led arts festival that celebrates the complexity of survivor voices and histories. Extant Arts rejects typecast narratives and empowers individuals to define and express their own experiences. The festival rejoices in how people who have experienced sexual and domestic violence continue to exist, survive and thrive.
For the first time this gathering will include a festival of original performance works by, for, about and with survivors, organized and curated by Gather Together, a collective of survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault. The ground-breaking Extant Arts Festival: Thriving after Survival will place survivors’ stories—and the work of artists who create with them—at the center of an this celebration.
Special thanks to MECU and Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts. This event is supported by the Grit Fund, a Regional Regranting Program administered by The Contemporary and funded by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
