Between by Rosa Leff Opening Reception
Friday, June 7th, 6-8pm
Jubilee Arts Baltimore

There is a monotony to our day to day experiences. No matter what part of the globe we live in, there are people on their way to and from work, meeting up with friends, and running errands. Baltimore based artist Rosa Leff’s papercuts celebrate the moments in-between that make up most of our lives.
All of the works to be exhibited are papercuts based on photos taken by the artist in Philadelphia, Baltimore, San Juan, Florida, Japan, and China. Rather than looking to monuments, landmarks, and other tourist sites, Rosa Leff looks for the things that are more universal. It might be something as simple as a discarded can, or as complex as the shadow of a fence on a brick wall.
In the artist’s own words: “It is a joy to hear people debate which city one of my papercuts depicts because it means there is something in that image that resonates with them and, more often than not, it evokes a sense of home. An image of back alley might not be a happy memory in and of itself, but the beauty in it is where that alley takes you.”
