Rotterdam Photo invites independent practitioners, art students, publishers, and other photography organizations to showcase their work in the context of the festival’s 2019 theme: City Limits. Rotterdam Photo is a photography event located at Deliplein, Katendrecht where artists have the opportunity to present their work during Art Rotterdam Week (7 -10 of February 2019). Image makers can submit their work until the 1st of December 2018.

Rotterdam Photo invites image-makers to submit their work for the next Rotterdam Photo festival 2019. Selected artists and organizations will get the opportunity to showcase their work alongside curated exhibitions and an elaborate fringe programme, offering a mix of activities: from photography exhibitions and screen presentations to workshops and Rotterdam Photo Talks that takes place on the 9th of February 2019. Rotterdam Photo presents a contemporary view on photography as it manifests itself outside the white cube and connects the selected practitioners to a broad audience. In 2018, more than 5.000 people visited Rotterdam Photo.

Theme 2019: City Limits

Rotterdam Photos 2019 theme is City Limits. We invite our applicants to present their images within the context of our theme. Whether you consider yourself an image-maker that exclusively focuses on documenting our living environment or one that manipulates and challenges the representation of urban living conditions, we invite any artist that works in the realm of visual culture to apply for the upcoming edition of the festival. For 2019 we have invited photographer Otto Snoek as special guest-curator and contributor of Rotterdam Photo.

Application and selection

If you want to join our growing community, please submit a selection of your images, inspired by our theme, before the 1st of December 2018  at Our committee, that consists of Otto Snoek (photographer and festival artist 2019), Erik Vroons (managing editor Gup Magazine) George Knegtel (curator), and Marcel Kollen (Managing Director Rotterdam Photo) will select the participants. If you are selected, a container will be designated to you against a non-profit fee. By doing so we want to give the independent photography community an opportunity to exhibit during the hustle and bustle of the Art Rotterdam Week.
