Application Process

Eligibility criteria:

  • Artists must demonstrate a deep commitment and interested in engaging with the local community

  • Applicants can be at any stage of their careers, but priority may be given to emerging artists

  • Eligible disciplines include traditional or folkloric arts, visual arts, literary arts, dance, theater, film/ video, music, music, performance-based arts, architecture, design, arts education, and interdisciplinary/ hybrid arts.

  • Preference will be given to emerging artists. (Emerging artists are defined as the principal creators of new work who take risks and embrace challenges; develop voices revealing significant potential; are rigorous in their approach to creation and production; have some evidence of professional achievement but not a substantial record of accomplishment; and are not recognized as established artists by other artists, curators, producers, critics, and arts administrators)

Review process:

Applications will be reviewed by a jury of ARC3409 Members and local outside partners using the below review criteria:

  • Aesthetic rigor and artistic excellence

  • The artist’s commitment to engage and thrive in a community-centric environment

  • The artist’s ability to pay the subsidized art studio rate

  • The artist’s potential to make quality arts more widely available

Deadline: September 7, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. (ET)

How to apply: The Artist Residency Program at ARC3409 will only accept digital applications emailed to: [email protected]

Please provide the following:

  1. Subject Line should include: First Name Last Name- Artist Residency 2018

  2. Email Body: Provide a short cover letter within the body of the email explaining your interest in working with the community at the ARC3409.

  3. Artist Bio/Statement: Provide an artist bio and include specifics about the aesthetic aspects of the artist’s medium(s).

  4. Artist CV/Resume: Please provide a recent CV/Resume.

  5. Work samples: Submit 3- 5 representative work samples along with any needed explanation. Please provide these in PDF, JPEG, TIFF, PNG, MP3, MP4 file type or provide a PDF with links to view video work samples or websites.
