ABOUT THE SHOW:
Welcome to The Terrible Secret of Lunastus, a zany comedy-action romp through the outers of space! It pays homage to your favorite science fiction serial TV shows while creating a bizarre new world with its own mythology. The moon is falling from orbit, and on the eve of the Earth’s destruction four astronauts, accompanied by their stupid robot, Android, depart for the planet Lunastus to assess its suitability as a new home for the human race. The creatures they discover there will make them question their free will… and fear for their lives.
Show dates are September 15 through October 8, 2017 at the Zion Lutheran Church in downtown Baltimore.
ABOUT THE AUDITIONS:
We will be casting 10 lead/supporting lead roles and 5 non-speaking movement roles for this show, as well as 2-3 pit singers (non-stage roles). The character list is as follows:
The crew of the S. S. Abacus:
Allison, Jules, Paul, and Vera
Their robot, Android
The inhabitants of Lunastus, called the Abzug:
Ozir & Mira, two elders
Shell & Meezer, their children
Ionos, an exile and a surface-dweller
5 semi-sentient alien trees, the Nog
Plus 2-3 pit singers (non-stage roles)
We are not seeking any particular demographic for these roles. Trans actors, non-binary actors, and actors of color are highly encouraged to audition.
Auditions will take place at BROS HQ (first floor of the Bell Foundry building, 1539 N Calvert St, Baltimore MD 21202). Our entrance is through the glass double doors on the south side of Federal Street, east of Calvert.
Actors should prepare one monologue and one song to total no more than 4 minutes of material.
⅛” audio input (headphone cable) into a stereo is available for music playback if necessary; there is no accompanist.
Dancers/movers interested solely in non-speaking, non-singing movement roles may instead prepare up to 3 minutes of choreography.
Group auditions will begin promptly on the hour for each session. Please expect to stay the entire hour, dress in clothing/shoes appropriate for a group movement exercise, and bring a list of your known weeknight/weekend conflicts through 10/15/17. Walk-ins will be accepted as time permits!
This is a NON-EQUITY show. Actors will not be paid for their work, but meals will be provided during all tech and show dates.
