ELIGIBILITY OF ARTISTS AND ARTWORK
All artists in the region that can hand deliver their work are eligible. Each artist may submit up to two works; each work may be represented by 2-3 images to show different views of the work. There is no entry fee. Work must have been created within the last two years. All accepted work must remain for the duration of the exhibit. Work accepted to the show must be hand delivered to the Julio Fine Arts Gallery the week of Feb. 8 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Work must be picked up the week of Tuesday, April 5 through Friday, April 8, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Julio Fine Arts Gallery or it will become the property of the gallery.
DESCRIPTION OF EXHIBIT
Artists are invited to submit unique or limited edition artist’s books – sculptural, book objects, altered books or book installations. This exhibit, Outside the Margins: Contemporary Artists’ Books, will be held in the Loyola-Notre Dame Library as part of Book Arts Baltimore. A reception will be held in the library for Outside the Margins on Thursday, March 17. In tandem with this exhibit, Loyola presents Outside the Margins: Artists’ Books from the Betty Sweren Collection, Feb. 15 through March 20 in the Julio Fine Arts Gallery.
Jurors: Kim Banister, Director Julio Fine Arts Gallery, Geoff Delanoy, Chair of Art/Music, Notre Dame of Maryland University and Janet Maher, Associate Professor of Art, Loyola University Maryland.
HOW TO SUBMIT WORK
Entries are to be submitted via email to [email protected]
Include a short artist’s statement/bio, a list of images and 4-6 images (up to 2 works; up to 3 images per work if needed).
The list of images should include your name and address, email address, title, medium/materials used, dimensions, value, and date work was executed.
Images must be high quality jpeg, 72dpi, no smaller than 1000 pixels in at least one direction (about 13”). The file size shouldn’t exceed 2MB. Image files should be titled: Name_title.
Artists will be notified of the jurors’ decision via email by Feb. 5
Work must be delivered to the Julio Fine Arts Gallery Feb. 8 through 11 during the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Parking is available on Cold Spring Lane between 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. or paid parking is available in the Jenkins lot off Cold Spring Lane. DO NOT DELIVER WORK TO THE LIBRARY.
The work should be labelled with your name and title of the piece.
Work in the exhibit is covered by Loyola’s insurance. All images submitted by the artist may be used for educational purposes or in the marketing of the exhibit. Generally the Julio Fine Arts Gallery does not sell work. Any sales will be between the artist and interested party. Submission of an entry constitutes an agreement on the part of the artist to these conditions.

Notification of acceptance: By Friday, Feb. 5, via email
Delivery of work: Monday-Thursday, Feb. 8-11, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. to the Julio Fine Arts Gallery (NOT the library)
Exhibit opens: Monday, Feb. 22 in the Loyola/Notre Dame Library
Reception: Thursday, March 17, 5-7 p.m.
Exhibit closes: Friday, April 1
Pick-up work: Tuesday-Friday, April 5-8, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. in Julio Fine Arts Gallery
